Questions To Ask Suppliers or Aggregators
 
Are you licensed to do business as a supplier or aggregator in Connecticut?
 
What is your price per kWh?
 
Is your price per kWh all-inclusive? All inclusive means the price reflects the full cost of generation and that there are no additional generation related charges that will be added to the bill.
 
If the price is NOT all-inclusive, ask the supplier to list and describe all additional generation related charges that you may be responsible for as well as the price of each charge.
 
How does your price per kWh compare to the generation price I am paying CL&P or UI?
 
Is your price fixed or variable?
 
     If fixed, how long is the price fixed for?
 
     If variable, how does it vary?
     Example, the price could vary monthly, by the amount of electricity you use, by time of use or in other ways.
 
If your price changes, when and how will I be notified?
 
Do I have to sign a contract or other agreement? If yes, what is the length of the contract or agreement?
 
Are there any early termination penalties?
 
I use about 500 kWhs per month. (This is an example. Use your own monthly consumption.) What are my monthly savings on your rate?
 
Is a security deposit, enrollment or other similar fee required? If yes, what is the cost?
 
Is there a credit check, late payment fee or other similar fee assessed? If yes, what is the cost?
 
Do you offer any other services? Some examples include energy audits, conservation services, load management or other energy related services.
